In this devotional, Dr. Deborah shares what Jesus says about willingly going the second mile, setting an example, to us, as His disciples!
“Our Father, who art in Heaven… the opening phrase to what we know as “The Lord’s Prayer,” gives us the focus and format of effective prayers. Jesus instructed His disciples to pray to the Father., and to honor His holiness. Jesus said that the lengthy and proud prayers of the Pharisees were not sincere, but just for show, and that we, as His followers, are not to pray that way.
Guilt can immobilize us to the point of devastation; however, our Lord has set us free from sin and has given us the true gift of His promise, that in Him, all things are made new. Merle shares with us today, a spoken word of the freedom that comes when we surrender our guilts over to the Lord and receive His mercy.

How often do we see people pray just for show, without sincerity of heart? We sometimes too might think that long or perfectly-worded prayers will have more significance or effectiveness, when the Lord is looking at the faith and condition of our hearts. In the gospels, Jesus addresses the issue when His disciples ask to be taught how to pray. Join Dr. Dana as she teaches on Jesus’ instructions on how to pray, and that it is the heart of gratitude and humility behind the prayer, not the words, that make it acceptable before God, Our Father.
