There is always so much to see, but now there is the world-class Museum of the BIBLE.
Finally, the WORD comes to Washington in a BIG Way!
As CBN.com reports, a world-wide collection detailing the history of the Bible throughout the generations and highlighting God’s great love story with mankind is now available to tour.
The Museum of the Bible has just opened for the public November, 2017. The grand opening came after a night of song and prayer.
The kickoff event featured performances from award-winning gospel artist CeCe Winans and sermons from faith leaders like Senate Chaplain Barry Black.
The museum features a 430,000 square feet facility that is open to the public, just blocks from the U.S. Capital and other monuments, and includes a rooftop Biblical garden.
It is the first museum in the U.S. Capital dedicated solely to the Holy Word of God. It has been seven years in the making.
Each floor of the museum is a different experience, engaging the senses on different levels. You can touch a one-ton stone from Jerusalem’s Western Wall of the Temple and see ancient relics which date back 1700 years before the birth of Christ.
A collection of Dead Sea Scroll fragments is on display, as well as collection of Bibles translated in more than 600 written languages.
There’s even a 470-seat performance theater, the Museum of the Bible’s World Stage Theatre, now featuring the Broadway musical, “Amazing Grace.”
The museum boasts a $500 million investment and global cultural and scholastic partnerships.

You can become a member, or reserve up to 6 tickets, as a non-member for no charge. However, you need to secure your tickets and available tour times online.
Scholarship educational opportunities are also available.
Hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 10:00-7:00 p.m. (8:00 a.m. entry for members). Saturday 10-7 (8am entry for members). And Sunday, 10:00-6:00 p.m. The Museum of the Bible is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
For easy transportation, the Museum of the Bible is conveniently located within steps of the Federal Center SW Metro Station which can be reached on the Blue, Orange and Silver lines. You can visit www.WMATA.com for up-to-date information on the metro and buses. The metro system is recommended due to the limited parking in the area.
The co-founders Steve and Jackie Green, also founders of the Hobby Lobby arts and crafts chain, had a vision to make the Museum of the Bible, a reality. They also released their new book at the same time as the grand opening, “This Dangerous Book: How the Bible Shaped Our World and Why It Still Matters Today.” The book explores the Bible throughout history, and in it, the Greens also share some of their own personal faith stories, including their recent battle with the U.S. Supreme Court.
The Museum of the Bible now stands as a tribute to encourage others to read and appreciate the best-selling book of all times, and to understand that Jesus is the Living Word of God.
