In week eight of our Women of the Bible Series, we discuss two women, Shiphrah and Puah, and the courage they had to stand for God’s law more than the law of the land. Join our host, Dr. Deborah Harper, as we hear a teaching from Trish Knox on the blessings we can receive if we follow God in obedience. And join Dr. Deborah in her kitchen as she prepares a simple yet creative recipe for chicken salad that is perfect for quick lunches. Bonnie Murdoch then leads us into worship this week with the song, “Come Thou Fount Come Thou King,” and we pray that you find a time of refreshing as we take the time to thank God for all the blessings He has poured out to us! Dr. Deborah will then share with us a useful way to repurpose tissue boxes to store plastic bags that tend to accumulate around the house. Then, Rachel Harper and Hannah Larum share a teaching on Shiphrah and Puah and the roles they played in the overarching plan God has always had for His people. And how we can have impact too, by fearing God and not man!
To fear God or to fear man? We each have a choice to make everyday. Rachel and Hannah teach on Exodus 1 and how Shiphrah and Puah, who feared the Lord, stood up to Pharaoh, saved lives, and ultimately helped to set up the freedom and victorious future of the Israeli nation and the people of God!
Have you ever had to face an ultimatum of following the law of man or to follow God’s command? Shiphrah and Puah, two Hebrew midwives, certainly did. In this teaching, Trish talks with us about the blessings that come out of obeying God, and encourages us, through prayer, to stand strong in what we know God is calling us to do in our day to day lives.
Bonnie leads us into worship this week to acknowledge that every blessing comes from our Lord. And we, in turn, lift up our voices to praise His everlasting mercy and goodness.
In this week’s Edition, join our host, Dr. Deborah Harper, as we learn about the foundations of fruitful relationships; honor, humility, and hospitality.
How do we function in the calling God has placed upon our lives? By the truth of the Gospel. Shermaine takes us into the scriptures surrounding Priscilla’s story to discover how we can walk forth in honor, humility, and hospitality.
As Gillian leads us into this time of worship, be reminded that if we place our hopes, thoughts, and actions upon the truth of Christ Jesus our foundation will not become broken. Building something of strength takes time, but trust Jesus in the process of it.
Aquila and Priscilla were a husband and wife team in the early church. As tent makers and ministers, they gave to their community from the abundance of their hearts. They not only supplied physical shelters for people to live in, but they also opened up their home to disciple and mentor others in their growth and understanding of Christ Jesus. Phoebe Knox teaches us how we also can walk in hospitality to others, stay accountable with each other in love, and that God will use the circumstances we are in to better reach those around us.
