Styles That Are Still “In” for This Season

According to the fashion experts at Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue, and other major retailers, there are a few styles that are still “In” for this season, and a few that are “Out.” Here is a highlight of five of them from Elle.com, that you are sure to love!

Five Styles that Are “In”

  • Stripes

“Stripes are the equivalent to what a white t-shirt used to be back in the day,” says Roopal Patel, fashion director of Saks Fifth Avenue. “They have nine lives. We’ve seen the trend now for two to three seasons and it will continue to carry forward.”

  • Sneakers

“Sneakers will continue to be extremely popular in the upcoming year,” says, Gennie Yi, Intermix’s buyer of designer and ready-to-wear. “Because of their versatility, you can never have to many, Glitter, leopard, and satin updates to sneakers effortlessly dress up an outfit and give you a reason to buy multiple pairs.”

  • Artistically Inspired

Painterly prints, or patterns, and strong art references were a popular theme that came across the runways, and are said to be here to stay throughout 2017.

  • Athletic-Inspired Pieces

There is a new attitude shift toward “easy elegance,” says Brook Jaffe, Bloomindale’s OVP and fashion director of ready-to-wear. The influence of the athletically inspired leisure clothing pieces will continue.

  • Mules

One shoe trend that we see really taking over is the mule,” says Sean Kirschenbaum, co-owner of The Shoebox. “Flat mules, low block-heel mules, heeled mules, sneaker mules, espadrille mules—mules in all fabrications and colors including velvet, satin, canvas, and embroidery. Heels that are four to five inches are out. Women these days are “more focused on comfort and practicality,” and they are interested in investing in a shoe that is “both stylish and comfortable, “says Kirschenbaum, “which is why there has been such an increase in demand for sneakers and low block-heels.” For more, visit Elle.com.
